The Power Of Choice

Choice is one of the most powerful, yet underutilized, tools we have.

Mindfulness is a pause--the space between stimulus and reaction where choice resides.

We live so much of our lives out of habit--going through the motions--that we often forget how much power we have to change the things that aren't working for us. We never stop long enough to think about the hundreds of choices we make every single day that impact some of the most important parts of our lives... like our health, both physical and mental.

You're not a victim to food.

The things you eat are a CHOICE. The amount of them you eat, another choice.

The movement in which you engage (or don't) is also, a CHOICE.

You don't HAVE to walk, stretch, lift, etc. You GET to CHOOSE whether or not you do those things.

It's not a chore. Self care, like movement and choosing foods that your body feel good are GIFTS that improve your mental, emotional and physical health (both right away and long term).

It keeps you strong as you age and improves your body composition/mobility, etc... and it's ALL within your control by making the choice.

Do you want to experience all those benefits today?

Make the choice.

You're also not a completely helpless victim to your body. Its current state is largely due to past CHOICES. (I say largely because there are always some things we cannot control -- accidents, diseases that aren't lifestyle related, etc. Of course not everything is within our control but almost everything can be at least improved upon by changing many of our choices. Eg. I grew up with exercise-induced asthma. That wasn't by choice but I could improve symptoms by choosing to strengthen my lungs.)

Our happiness is also a CHOICE. We grow up believing happiness comes when we get a certain thing, time, event, size, etc. The truth is true happiness comes from making the CHOICE to just be. It never comes from external factors that can be taken away in a moment.

Choosing to find true happiness from within starts with our thoughts ...which are again, a CHOICE.

We don't have to be helpless victims to our thoughts... they are a CHOICE.

Choosing to change them starts with identifying the destructive ones and then making the choice to create and nurture positive ones.

It takes time. It takes effort. But it's life-changing. Recognizing these things and taking control of the choices that aren't working for us is the most empowering thing we will ever do.

Bottom line: The way we look, feel, move, live and perform is largely impacted by or even the result of CHOICE.

How great is that?! WE have the power to change almost all of it by ...choice.

The best news ever: YOU are in CONTROL of your CHOICES and your choices can change literally EVERYTHING.

So she left the fitness industry and bundled everything she learned from her own recovery, from her time as a trainer & nutrition & wellness coach with everything she learned in her mindfulness-based cognitive behavior coach training, to create Cognitive Eating.  This allows her to guide and support people to live healthier lives through behavior and habit modification at the brain level, where it counts and will stick because our brains control everything - our thoughts, feelings, beliefs and the unconscious habits and behavior that result from those things. She says, when we change those, everything changes - and it changes forever.
