For more than 20 years I bought the lies, too...
You know the ones I mean - the lies that told me weight loss was the answer to happiness and making me feel about myself. The lies that told me food rules and restrictions were the answer to health and a perfect body. And the lies that told me I was lazy and weak-willed when I couldn't follow the rules and that I just needed to try harder, restrict more, be more motivated.
And like they've done for you, they destroyed my relationship with my body, with food and with myself. They made me gain weight, feel obsessed over and addicted to food, created decades worth or disordered eating patterns, serial dieting and ultimately, drove me to an eating disorder.
In hindsight the eating disorder was the blessing I needed because in recovering, I learned the truth and finally found the bliss that is freedom.
And now it's your turn.
Imagine with me for a moment a random day in the future. You wake up every morning, smiling. Your first thoughts are of all the things you're grateful for, your next thoughts, setting your intention for the day.
You get dressed, smiling. You grab some breakfast, whatever you feel like having. You head to work, calmly manage everything the day throws at you, enjoy a delicious lunch of whatever you feel like eating, perhaps a small slice of your co-workers birthday cake and head home for a delicious supper. Again, just whatever you feel like eating.
After supper perhaps you make a little time for a few minutes of movement if you didn't have a chance earlier in the day -- whatever kind you've grown to enjoy or that your body feels like it needs.
Not once in your entire day do you even really think about food. You don't binge. You don't obsess. You don't overeat. Not only do you not step on your scale once but you don't even know where it is, can't remember the last time you were on it & have no idea what you weigh -- but you feel incredible. You're voluntarily eating foods that make your body feel its best while still enjoying all your favorites. Those ever present thoughts in your head? You know, the ones that tell you you're a failure, that you suck, or your body is disgusting -- are gone.
There's no more "starting over on Monday" or waking up every morning declaring you're going to "be good!" only to eat something "bad" by noon and hate yourself.
Life is just happy, healthy and free.
